Antique tourmaline and 9kt gold ring, an antique five stone tourmaline ring in the victorian style. The gemstones are each held in place by four claws The gold has a rosy tone typical of the victorian period.
Measurements and Markings:
The ring is hallmarked for 9kt gold with the city mark of Birmingham, it is dated at 1849-50. There is also a makers mark LEN which tells us the ring was made by Lewis Edwin Neale from Birmingham. The widest part of the setting has a width of 7.5mm and at the back of the band 2.5mm. The ring is a P 1/2 or a 7 3/4 in U.S sizing.
The tourmalines are all oval facet cut and are a pink-purple colour.
The ring is in good condition given its age.
